Tuesday, April 27, 2010 – Michael Rubin, Jed Babbin, Andy McCarthy

Erick Stakelbeck returns as guest host for Frank. Erick shreds the Obama Administration’s failed engagement policies with the Islamic world in his opening monologue. AEI Scholar Michael Rubin chats with Erick about the growing threat from Iran, and why the Obama Administration keeps on dragging its feet with regard to sanctions. Former Undersecretary of Defense Jed Babbin weighs in on ‘The Obama Doctrine’ and then outlines some of  the dangerous implications it may have for important international flashpoints such as Iran and China. SFR regular Andy McCarthy wraps up the show with his take on the ongoing debate over how to bring captured terrorists to justice.

MONOLOGUE – April 27, 2010

But first, President Obama this week in DC is hosting the Muslim Entrepreneur Summit. Now this is very interesting – this is from the AP and I knew about this a few weeks ago. Of course it’s getting absolutely no mainstream media coverage like most important stories these days, that’s why we have to bring it to you here on Secure Freedom Radio. Here’s from the AP press release: President Barack Obama say new exchange programs with Muslim countries will bring their business people and “social entrepreneurs to the U.S. to learn and share their expertise”. Obama said Monday that the programs will include allowing Muslim women in the technology field to come to the U.S. for internships and professional development while hi-tech leaders from Silicon Valley will share their expertise in the Middle East, Turkey and South-East Asia. Obama spoke at the summit on entrepreneurship, which was organized to help improve relations between the U.S. and Muslim countries. He announced that Turkey’s Prime Minister will hold a similar summit next year. You know, Erdogan, the Prime minister of Turkey, a guy who basically this side of Ahmedinejad has had the most vicious rhetoric towards Israel over the past year and a half. But he’s a good friend of President Obama – move along nothing to see here – everything’s just fine with Turkey. Here’s the deal with this summit: it sounds great on paper – we’re going to encourage entrepreneurship, we’re going to encourage technology, science; basically everything that’s been missing from the Muslim world for about 1400 years.

It’s not going to work. Number one, who are we going to bring to this country as part of this program? Forgive me if I don’t have a whole lot of confidence in the Obama administration’s vetting process. This is an administration that has reached out consistently to Muslim Brotherhood operatives as my friend, Frank Gaffney, has so eloquently shown over the past several years. Frank was like a Paul Reveire on this issue, rallying about the Muslim Brotherhood here on U.S. soil and how they’re gaining access to the most sensitive positions, sensitive levels of the U.S. Government. The Obama administration so far has shown absolutely no knowledge about the Brotherhood threat in the United States. That’s why we have a situation where just last month Home Security Chief, Janet Napolitano, was meeting with several Brotherhood-related groups to talk about Homeland Security. Isn’t that something else? This is a group, according to a 1991 Muslim Brotherhood memo, as Frank has talked about time and again, dedicated to bringing down the United States from within. It’s a long-term plan – for those of you who aren’t familiar with the Muslim Brotherhood, in a nutshell this is the granddaddy of them all. This is the oldest jihadist Islamist group founded in the 1920s in Egypt. Hamas, al-Qaeda – they are all the offspring of the Muslim Brotherhood. I spoke to a Hamas-linked guy last month who told me that ‘Hamas is the Muslim Brotherhood’. It is the Brotherhood’s Gaza wing.

So that’s what you doing when you’re dealing with the Muslim Brotherhood. Yet in America, there are several groups like the Council on America-Islamic Relations, like the Islamic Society of North America with strong, strong ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. This is downright seditious of these groups, yet the Obama administration and sadly the Bush administration also met with these Brotherhood-tied groups, but the Obama administration continues to meet with these groups. The FBI and the DOJ now apparently are still continuing to meet with the Islamic Society of North America. A spokesman for this group, CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, was supposed to get the shaft from the FBI or the administration but according to my sources in the intelligence community there are still some contacts between CAIR and the FBI.

All that said forgive me if I don’t put a lot of faith into this entrepreneurship program that President Obama is pushing. Why? Who is he going to bring here? This is the perfect opportunity for Brotherhood operatives to infiltrate and come to this country through this program. This is an administration that last month waived the restrictions on Tariq Ramadan on entering this country. Tariq Ramadan is a long-time Brotherhood operative out of Europe. He was banned from entering this country – the administration lifted that ban. So forgive me if I’m not looking forward to all these great Muslim entrepreneurs and social entrepreneurs and businesspeople who are supposedly going to come here as part of this program. Who? Like Prince Alwali Bin Talal maybe? The billionaire Saudi prince who donated $20million to Harvard and $20million to Georgetown? Is this the kind of business leader we’re going to see come here as part of the Obama administration’s new initiative?

I’ll tell you who the Obama administration should be reaching out to, ladies and gentlemen. A tiny country when it comes to business and technology, entrepreneurship and scientific-related issues. It’s a tiny little country – you might have heard of it. It’s called Israel – in a sea of about 280 million extreme Muslims in that region. Now he’s bypassing the one country in that region that actually does have entrepreneurship, does have scientific breakthroughs, does have technological breakthroughs. Really, Israel is like a Silicon Valley in the middle of the desert. Yet President Obama is completely by-passing Israel – he’s thrown them under the bus. As my friend Caroline Glick says, who’s on this show so often, ‘it is an adversarial relationship thanks to this White House.’ President Obama has, in my opinion, to be looked at as an adversary of Israel.

Now I know that’s strong stuff has anything shown you any different in the past 12-18 months? Have you seen anything that leads you to believe otherwise? Just last week, the President’s National Security Advisor Jim Jones delivered a speech at the Washington Institute on Near East Policy and starts the speech off with a really inappropriate joke about Jews. Now, believe me, I’m not a politically correct guy at all. I’m from Philadelphia – I grew up with ethnic jokes everywhere. I’m German-Irish and every day I was called a ‘kraut-nick’ by my friends, so believe me, I’m not politically correct: I get ethnic humor. But for Jones who is not Jewish, before a largely Jewish venue, considering the state of this administration’s relationship with Israel, with Jews, and considering Jones’ own personal history of being unfriendly with the Jews you would think this guy would be a little more shrewd in his judgment. Yet he opened up with, I’m not going to repeat the joke here, number one because Jones’ delivery would give carrot-top a run for his money in terms of humor – it wasn’t the best delivery. Basically the gist of it is, the punch line was, greedy, Jewish merchants. That was basically the gist of the joke!

To say that’s inappropriate is, I think, an understatement. But I think it was a microcosm really of how this administration regards Israel and frankly how they regard Jews. And I know that’s strong stuff but I’ve seen nothing to dissuade me of that over the past 12 months and I think it’s only going to get worse. So to bring it full circle, the Muslim entrepreneurship summit, God bless you, I think it’s going to be a complete failure and I think it is just another example of President Obama bending over backwards, beyond backwards, to reach out and embrace the Muslim world. To extend the olive branch and to once again have his hand slapped away -and at the expense of who? At the expense of our greatest ally, our most staunch ally, an ally who we share a common jihadist enemy with: Israel. That’s who this Muslim embrace comes at the expense of.
